Who we are
Corpgate, Inc. is a California registered agent based in Scotts Valley, California. We have been a registered agent since 2008.
A registered agent, which the state calls an agent for service of process, is the person or company that accepts lawsuits and other legal papers for a corporation or LLC. That is our business. It is described on corpgate.com.
Why these guides exist
The guides cover forming a company and the problems that come up after: the Statement of Information, the $800 yearly tax, a "suspended" status, or an official-looking letter asking for money. Over the years, we have seen those "annual minutes" letters ourselves.
The official answers are on the Secretary of State and Franchise Tax Board websites, but they are spread across many pages and written for people who already know the terms. These guides put the published rules in plain words, in one place, for people doing this for the first time. Each guide links the official pages its facts come from.
What these guides are not
Corpgate, Inc. is not a law firm or a tax professional. The guides describe the general process the state publishes. They do not look at anyone's own situation, pick a business type for anyone, or say what someone should do. For that, a licensed California attorney or tax professional is the right person to ask.
Corpgate, Inc. does not prepare legal documents. There are no prices, forms or checkout on this site.
Keeping the guides current
Each guide shows the date it was last reviewed. State offices change fees, forms and deadlines from time to time, so the linked official page is always the final word.
If something on a guide looks out of date, please email [email protected]. We cannot answer questions about what a specific business should do.
